Moving to Curahuasi

On February 1st we moved from Cusco to Curahuasi. This is where the Diospi Suyana missionary hospital is located.

Our house is surrounded by avocado plantations and is therefore much quieter than in the city of Cusco. Curahuasi is 1000 meters lower than Cusco (3500m above sea level) and we don't get out of breath as quickly. The climate is more humid and milder. We have a large garden and the children can move around freely and let off steam. Unfortunately, there aren't many parks in Cusco. Most of them are concreted with sports fields that have to be reserved.

Rahel and I continue to have online language lessons throughout February.

The children start school at the Colegio Diospi Suyana on March 3rd. Ilay is in the 3rd grade and Mava in the 1st grade. The lessons are taught in Spanish as most of the pupils are Peruvian.

We hope that the children get off to a good start at school, as it will be a big change.

Pupils wear a school uniform and have lessons from 7:45-12:30. The afternoons are free.

Rahel and I are expected to start our work at the hospital on March 10.

I will be working in the emergency team, which is also responsible for endoscopies.

Rahel works in administration and is responsible for the billing of operations.

We are very excited about the new work with a new language. It will be a big challenge, as the work and the culture are different. In the last 6 months we have already been able to learn a lot about the culture and language.

We are very much looking forward to the moment when we can finally work at the Diospi Suyana hospital!
