Lots of them and the Maurers for sure
It is May 15, 2015, a Friday. Gabriel and Rahel Maurer are watching a movie on the internet about “the hospital of faith”. Preparation for Saturday. Because a missionary doctor from Peru will be giving a talk about Diospi Suyana in their Basel church congregation ICF.
The movie goes straight to the heart and 24 hours later, the young couple are flashed by the presentation. Something strange even happens that evening. Gabriel has picked up a copy of the book “I have seen God” at the book table and asks the speaker for a short dedication. And he gets one. The doctor from Peru writes on the first page: “God willing, I'll see you in Peru. Have a good trip!” This sentence makes the qualified nurse and the medical practice employee wonder. Is this some kind of prophecy?
In the same year, the two attend a Diospi Suyana interest meeting in Langgöns, Germany. They are definitely ready for a three-year mission in Peru. But then Rahel becomes pregnant. And her son Ilay (the sublime) is born. In 2018, little sister Mava (the beautiful one) joins them. The Maurers are still enjoying the good life in Switzerland. What force could catapult an established nuclear family out of the Swiss paradise?
Gabriel and Rahel are listening to a podcast by Dr. Benjamin Zeier in May 2021. And suddenly they are both deeply moved. Diospi Suyana is their own path and their mission. - Well, yesterday they stood behind the hospital for the photo and laughed into the camera as friendly as only Swiss people can laugh. After the language school in Cusco they have a lot of work ahead of them. But the Maurers from Känerkinden near Basel are hard-working people and we can't get enough of them at Diospi Suyana. Bienvenidos! /KDJ
